February sees the club again offering the very best in total body care in terms of preventative medicine, post trauma or post sports injury care & of course the full gambit of rehabilitation & sports rehabilitation physiotherapy from your hospital bedside or indeed your own bed at home through back to work & onto the sports ground or into the gym.

The highly talented Flinders Avenue Physiotherapist Team opens up a superb clinic in Healthy Life Fitness Centre & so become our highly skilled, diverse & professional Sports Injury Therapists operating their sports medical clinic 6 days a week here in the health club.

The team is ably led by Principal Physiotherapist / Pilates Instructor Caroline Shaw & Principal Physiotherapist Daniel Rispoli while they lead the two-person Physiotherapist team in-situ of Joanna Buist & Adam Egan. Just who are these 4 great therapists? Read below.

CAROLINE SHAW (formerly Caroline Reece) – Principal Physiotherapist & Pilates Instructor

Caroline began her career in the United Kingdom after graduating with honours in 2000. In addition to working as a Physiotherapist in a busy and proactive physiotherapy company in the UK, Caroline provided physiotherapy for a number of ‘soccer’ (football!) and rugby teams. She also ran a Sports Injuries clinic at Newcastle University.

Since moving to Australia in 2003, Caroline has worked in private practice and was also the physiotherapist to an Australian Rules football team in the WAFL. In 2007 she completed post graduate studies towards a certificate in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy through Curtin University.

In 2005 Caroline became a qualified Clinical Pilates instructor and has since been teaching Pilates for injury rehabilitation and prevention. She has completed further Pilates training through the internationally recognised Polestar Pilates and has also completed specialised training in the Franklin Method of Movement Rehabilitation.

DANIEL RISPOLI – Principal Physiotherapist Daniel graduated from Curtin University of Technology in 2003 and has been working in private practice since then. He has had significant experience in the areas of Musculoskeletal Injuries, Sports Injuries, Exercise Prescription, Post Operative Rehabilitation and Spinal Injuries.

Daniel also has qualifications in Dry Needling / Acupuncture and the treatment of Benign Positional Vertigo. Daniel has a keen interest in Lower Back Pain and Knee Injuries. He also has specialised skills in Dry Needling and Kinesiotaping, a form of strapping which provides more flexibility and assists in injury rehabilitation and pain reduction.

JOANNA BUIST – Physiotherapist & Pilates Instructor Jo graduated from Cardiff University (UK) with upper second class honours in BSc Physiotherapy in 2011. Since graduating, Jo has worked in a variety of musculoskeletal settings including outpatients, hydrotherapy and within a sports private practice. She has also worked alongside premier and first division rugby teams throughout her time in the UK. Jo is dedicated to continual learning within the musculoskeletal specialty and has a particular interest in treating shoulders and knees. She is also trained in Kinesiotaping and Clinical Pilates and places a strong emphasis on Manual Therapy and Exercise Prescription.

ADAM EGAN – Physiotherapist & WITH A Masters no less, so highly qualified and with a BSc in sports and Exercise Adam completes the team of expert therapists with aplomb. Also a personal trainer and boot camp leader himself Adam is the ideal therapist to treat those suffering from sports injuries as he empathizes with their desire to get back into play ASAP.

Adam treats a wide spectrum of musculoskeletal disorders & is adept at ensuring all from amateur through to elite athletes get back to their level of mobility, functional movement & high sporting achievement in the swiftest of time. Adam too is an expert at Dry Needling so all four therapists are able to reach & stimulate recovery that ordinary therapists often are unable to.

Adam specializes in shoulder injuries, knee injuries & pain management in general.
